Wilson keen to impress City boss

CITY defender James Wilson said he 'enjoyed every second' on his loan spell at Brentford and now wants to 'impress' his current manager Gary Johnson.

Wilson had spent the first three months of the season on loan at Brentford, but rejoined City from the league two club after his loan spell ran out earlier this week.

"I really enjoyed the loan spell and it has given me lots of experience," said the defender, who made 16 appearances in his spell at Griffin Park,

"I feel I've improved in every department, especially defending which is the main part of my game. There's a lot of pressure involved because a mistake could lead to a goal and points are at stake. It's not like reserve games.

"There's an extra buzz playing competitive football and it's something I had never experienced before - I loved it. We played very well at the start of my loan and it tailed off towards the end."

Although it had been suggested that Wilson could be loaned out to the Bees again once the January transfer window, City boss Gary Johnson quashed such speculation of the defender being loaned out but refused to say that such a move meant Wilson was in line for an immediate first team place.
Whether he returns to another club on a short term loan spell or pushes for a first team start, Wilson said,

"I'd like to give it a go here for a couple of months.

"If nothing happens by January then I could be going out on loan again - we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

"Playing in League One may be the next step up but I just have to see what the gaffer says. I know he's watched me during my time at Brentford and has said some positive things - I just want to keep impressing him."

The Welsh international defender said,

"I really enjoyed my time at Brentford and thank everyone there. The manager (Andy Scott), the coaches, the people there - everyone was brilliant to me."
