City new signing Joe Keith gets a start ahead of Luke Wilkshire. Clayton Fortune returns at centre back in place of the injured Louis Carey. Scott Murray returns on the right and Tommy Doherty in the middle where Scott Brown continues. Scott Golbourne makes up the trio of Scotts at left back. Dave Cotterill is ruled out through illness.

City's 1,600 strong following is in good voice prior to the match.

Leroy Lita just fails to get on the end of a Jamie Smith through ball as City start brightly. Lita is brought down just outside the penalty area. Lita takes the free kick and blasts it but Marriott manages to tip over. Akinfenwa heads straight at Phillips when unmarked 8 yards out.

Luton are a goal up at Oldham.

Lita scores from 35 yards!!!!!

0-1 (Lita 9 mins)

Lita scores another from a corner by Joe Keith!!!

0-2 (Lita 12mins)

Lita is booked for his celebration. Brooker has an effort that breaks to Murray who gives him the ball back, he rounds the keeper but cannot shoot past three defenders on the line. Tommy Doherty shoots wide from 30 yards. Phillips saves well from Leon Constantine and then catches another shot following the resulting corner. Martin Phillips shoots wide. Torquay are playing well despite the two early goals. But then Lita breaks away and combines well again with Keith to complete his first Bristol City hat-trick!!!

0-3 (Lita 21 mins)

City win a free kick on the edge of the box. Joe Keith hits it into the wall.. On the break Akinfenwa is tackled well by Jamie Smith.

The Gas go a goal down at home to Mansfield only to equalise straight from the kick off. Lee Miller has scored again for Hearts.

Kuffour has a strike on goal that Phillips and Coles manage to scramble away between them. Akinfenwa shoots straight at Phillips. Phillips saves well at the feet of Kuffour but appears hurt, he manages to continue. Lita has yet another shot saved and City force another corner from which Scott Brown shoots out of the ground.

Bournemouth are a goal down to a Craig Fagan goal for Hull. Bob Taylor has scored for Tamworth. Swindon are 2-0 down at home to Wrexham and Hull have a second at Bournemouth.

Phillips saves well from Constaintine. Scott Brown clears another ball out of the ground. Murray crosses well but the keeper collects. Scott Brown goes in strongly on Joe Kuffour and is booked.

Brentford are 1-0 down at home to Chesterfield. Oldham have equalised against Luton. Doncaster are 1-0 up at ten man Blackpool. Swindon have a goal back but trail 2-1. Hartlepool are a goal up at Bradford.

Torquay force their sixth corner but Kuffour handles the driven kick. Torquay have had a lot of the game and continued to attack City despite the three goals of Leroy Lita that see City 3-0 up at half time.

HT 0-3

The Gas have taken the lead just before half time. Colchester take the lead against Sheff Weds early in the second half. Mansfield equalise early against the Gas.

Leroy Lita took a knock just before half time and is replaced by Paul Heffernan, who gets his chance despite Lita being on fire. Doherty has a pot shot easily saved. Phillips saves well from an early Torquay cross. Joe Keith breaks into the penalty area but is well tackled.

Luke Beckett has scored on his debut for Oldham and they lead Luton 2-1. The Gas are now losing 3-2. Bournemouth are down to ten men and are 2-0 down to Hull.

Bedeau replaces Constantine and Craig Woodman comes on for Kuffour.

Another good ball from Joe Keith and Heffernan bursts clear and scores!!!

0-4 (Heffernan 54 mins)

Ten man Blackpool have equalised against Doncaster. Hull are 3-0 up at Bournemouth. Lee Matthews has scored for Port Vale.

Steve Brooker is replaced by Luke Wilkshire. Heffernan has another shot blocked. Scott Brown has a shot from distance just over. Zema Abbey comes on for Martin Phillips for Torquay. Abbey is booked for a foul. Steve Phillips saves another Akinfenwa shot well.

Hull are now 4-0 up at Bournemouth. Brentford are now 2-1 down at home to Chesterfield with a goal from Wayne Allison being replied to by Deon Burton. Mansfield are now 4-32 up against the Gas.

Jamie Smith is replaced by Bradley Orr. Orr will play at right back. Joe Keith is making a positive debut for City, a step over sees him win a corner. City have had 15 shots on goal 12 of them on target.

Hartlepool have taken the lead at Bradford. Swindon have equalised as have Brentford and Sheff Weds.

Phillips saves brilliantly from an Akinfenwa header. Someone runs onto the pitch and is tackled by the stewards, and then a second idiot comes on. Both of them local and both marched out of the ground in front of the City fans, who encourage them on their way.

Swindon now lead 3-2 having been 2-0 down. Ade Akinbiyi has scored for Burnley having been sent off on his debut. The gas have a third goal but still trail at home.

Garner is booked for a foul on Scott Brown. Akinfenwa somehow fails to score as Phillips saves well with his legs. Torquay have been in this game all the way but have just not been able to find their finishing boots. Abbey and Russell have had shots saved when well placed. Doherty is limping which is not good for his prospects of playing for N.Ireland against England.

Swindon and the Gas both have 4 goals, Rovers are level, Swindon 4-2 up.

Heffernan has a chance deflected wide. The final whistle goes on a game that was all but settled by Leroy Litas first hat-trick within the first 21 minutes. Results elsewhere have helped but it is Lita who has put City back on the play-off trail.
