Robins candidates please Lansdown

Bristol City chairman Steve Lansdown has told BBC Radio Bristol that he is "very, very pleased" with the calibre of managers interested in joining them. The search to replace Gary Johnson only officially started on Monday but several candidates have been in touch.

Lansdown will not rush into a new appointment but is hoping to narrow the field down by the end of the week.

Alan Curbishley, George Burley, Phil Brown and Steve Coppell have all been linked with the job.

Johnson's former assistant Keith Millen is in caretaker charge of the team, leading them to a 2-2 draw with Championship leaders Newcastle on Saturday.

He told BBC Radio Bristol that he has to focus on getting results rather than trying to keep the job permanently.

Who do you think should be Bristol City's new manager?

"It doesn't worry me who's linked with the job," said Millen.

"If we go and win the next two or three games everyone's going to think I'm great; if we don't win the next two games people are going to think I'm not up for the job. That's how fickle football is."

Many of the men linked with taking over have Premier League experience, but Millen hopes that does not rule him out.

"Not necessarily, I know all the names that have been labelled for the job and a lot of them have experience, but there's a lot of managers who haven't managed in the Premier League that have taken clubs up from the Championship," he said.
