Town boss Martin Allen asked City about the availability of the winger on his first day in the job with his new club Cheltenham and Gary Johnson was willing to allow the midfielder to play some first team football after only recently returning from injury.
Murray told the Bristol Evening Post that he was 'suprised' at being allowed to join the League Two side on a month long loan but is eagerly anticipating his first game which looks set to be tonight against Bristol Rovers.
He said: "I didn't know what Cheltenham's next game was until Gary Johnson told me they were playing Rovers tonight.
"So it's one of the best games I could have hoped for and I'm sure the Rovers fans will give me a nice reception!"
