The City record signing joined from Crewe Alexandra and will return to his former club on the 26th August when the two sides meet in a Carling Cup second round tie.
Soon after the draw Johnson told the clubs official website: "I was speaking to Nicky when results came in and he said 'I bet we draw Crewe!'
"It's strange that cup competitions throw up these kind of draws and that will certainly be the headline. Nicky served Crewe well and he never asked to leave so he should get a good reception."
