Hoping to celebrate the new five-year contract he signed with the club last Friday, Johnson was made to sit through a horror show of a first half before his team came back from their two goal defecit to look the team more likely in the final five minutes.
City now travel to Bramall Lane on Tuesday hoping to get their playoff hopes back on track against a United side who themselves have just recovered from a five game losing streak. Johnson admitted that he was extremely unhappy with the first half telling the BBC: "The first half was the poorest we have been for some time and probably since I've been here.
"If we had produced another half like that there would have been no light at the end of the tunnel."
A second half rally started with a goal from John Akinde who Gary Johnson praised for his efforts on debut before David Noble rattled in a long-range effort to rescue a point. The City boss praised all the players involved in the fight-back saying,
"All of our subs made an impact and credit the lads for giving it a go."
