Birmingham kept pace with Wolves thanks to a 2-1 win at Ashton Gate, inflicting on Bristol City their first defeat of the campaign. An own goal from Louis Carey got the home side off to a bad start before Cameron Jerome made it 2-0. Lee Trundle pulled a goal back late on for City but it wasn't enough and the midlands side headed back to Birmingham with all three points.
Gary Johnson was notably disappointed in his press conferance and said:
"We were not good enough with our final ball or our movement inside the penalty area. That goes for everyone, not just the strikers. I thought between the two penalty boxes we played very well. But that's no use if you don't create chances.
"I've told the lads we will be working very hard between now and Saturday's home game with Doncaster."
