Jevons Above

Phil Jevons has signed a contract that will keep him at the Galpharm Stadium until 2010. He has gone for an undisclosed fee. Top scorer in Citys' promotion season Jevons found himself unable to break into the Championship team this season with new signings Darren Byfield and Lee Trundle and a rejuvinated Enoch Showunmi ahead of him in the pecking order. He has been on loan at Huddersfield scoring 4 goals in 7 matches.

Andy Ritchie the Terriers nmanager said, "The signing of Phil is fantastic for the Club, we've been chasing him for a long time and there has been a lot of to-ing and fro-ing, but we've managed to secure the signature of a proven goalscorer. I still think he's one or two games away from being totally match fit, but he offers so much to the team other than just goals in terms of linkup play and I'm delighted to have him here. He's made a positive impact in his short time with us so far and I'm certain that will continue."

This frees up the No.10 shirt which will presumably be given to City new boy Nicky Carle. LT10 will have to change his number plate after all.
