Bristol City defender Liam Fontaine will receive a second opinion on Wednesday on the ankle injury which has kept him out of action for two weeks. The 24-year-old had been told that he could be playing again within a month, but that there was a chance he could also face further surgery.
Manager Keith Millen told the club website: "It's a really difficult situation and decision for us to make.
"We don't want to risk having Liam unavailable for longer than necessary."
Millen added: "He has been one of our most consistent performers this season and we want to take the option that makes him available quickest."
