City took the lead 19 minutes into the game at The Walkers Stadium when livewire Ivan Sproule waltzed past four defenders before lifting an angled shot over home side keeper Chris Weale from seven yards.

Cole Skuse doubled City's lead nine minutes later leaving Weale floundering with a wonderful strike into the top corner from 30 yards and Evander Sno drilled home from ten yards to give City a 3-0 lead on 78 minutes.

Matt Fryatt grabbed a consolation goal for the home side in stoppage time when he guided the ball home after latching onto a Paul Gallagher pass.

"We had a game plan and the longer the game went on we thought we would have the pace to cause them problems on the counter attack," Millen said after the match on Tuesday night.

"We defended really well as a team and knew the first goal was going to be vital, and so it proved.

"We had felt under a bit of pressure because we hadn't won in our last five games.

"But we said to the players they had to be confident and strong on the ball and that is exactly what they were tonight.

"The first goal was massive for us. After that you could see us growing in confidence."
