Excitement will mount when the fixtures come out

City will find themselves in a division where around half the clubs have recently had Premiership experience.

"When we pick up the fixture list and see games against the likes of Wolves, Southampton, Preston and Charlton the excitement will grow. I think the fans will get really excited then," he told the official website.

"There are more than 10 clubs in the Championship who have all experienced Premiership football, that shows the sort of quality we will be coming up against week in, week out next season."
