Gillet set for Robins bow
Bristol City's new signing Simon Gillet is in contention when Oldham come to Ashton Gate.
The midfielder was reunited with former manager Sean O'Driscoll on Thursday when he made the loan move from Nottingham Forest and he is available to feature against Lee Johnson's men.
Elsewhere Louis Carey is back in full training while fellow centre-back James Wilson is nearly back from injury but this match comes too soon for the Wales international.
Loanee Lewis Dunk is back at Brighton after suffering a knee injury. He will be out for up to 10 days, when his loan spell will then be assessed.
Oldham will welcome back highly-rated centre-back James Tarkowksi from suspension.
The defender served a one-match ban in midweek as Latics crashed to a 3-2 defeat against Notts County and boss Lee Johnson is likely to put the 20-year-old straight back into his starting XI.
Johnson will have more defensive options at his disposal if loanee Joseph Mills, who recently extended his stay from Burnley, can overcome a hamstring injury, although he is rated as 50-50 after missing the previous two fixtures.
Fellow defenders Connor Brown (knee), Matteo Lanzoni (hamstring) and striker Charlie MacDonald (ankle) all remain on the sidelines.
