"The idea is that the whole football department will be located at the training ground," club chief executive Colin Sexstone told BBC Radio Bristol.
City have bought 13.9 acres on freehold from Bristol Grammar School.
"We only had four pitches and we need eight so this will enable us to build at least four more," added Sexstone.
"We are taking advice on whether we need planning permission for the pitches.
"Hopefully we won't and this could then take place during the next year, though the buildings will take longer."
Sexstone said that the club will eventually build new changing rooms, fitness facilities and a small restaurant in a building intended to house all professional staff.
"The speed at which we can go on this will depend largely on our success on the pitch," he added. "But we now own the land and are drawing up the plans. We'll go at it at a pace we can afford."
